Mick Barry was elected as a TD for the Anti-Austerity Alliance in Cork North Central for the Anti-Austerity Alliance. He had previously been a member for Cork City Council for 12 years.

Mick was a leading member of the anti-bin tax campaign and was jailed for his role in organising protests in 2001.

Since being elected Mick has been a strong advocate for workers – supporting struggles for pay increases and defending working conditions. Mick is a member of the Committee on the Future of Healthcare arguing for the creation of an Irish National Health Service.

He is a leading anti-water charges organiser.
